Held in conjunction with the Fall Conference, attendance of the Maintenance Workshop requires separate registration and payment. (NOTE: Conference attendees who register for Day 2, may not attend Track E/Maintenance Sessions unless they also register/pay to attend the Maintenance Workshop; but Day 3/Nov. 21st conference registrants may attend the Nov. 21st/Track A sessions.) Registration for the November 20th sessions is limited; once our capacity is reached, we will only be able to accept Partial/Nov. 21st registrations. Seating, particularly in sessions on Wednesday, November 20th, is limited and available on a first arrive & seated basis.

November 20 | Track E Sessions
Time Management for Maintenance
Time Management skills are essential for your professional success in the workplace. We’ll share best practices on the following:
➢ How to plan and prioritize your daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual tasks.
➢ How to become more efficient and productive.
➢ How to overcome procrastination quickly and easily.
➢ How to delegate more efficiently.
➢ How to manage ad-hoc projects and tasks given to you that could interrupt your newly found peace of mind.

Effective Preventative & Predictive Maintenance Planning
Preventive maintenance has always been an important task that we perform at our properties. This session will take that principle one step further by adding predictive maintenance and its importance. Participants will learn the key elements of an effective PM and PdM program, including:
  • Defining the different types of maintenance
  • Understanding financial implications
  • Challenges to managing an effective PM and PdM program
  • How to present your project ideas to leadership so that they get approved
  • Ensuring success and ongoing results [Instructor: Scott Ployer]

HVAC Refrigerants
This is an abbreviated version of HD Supply’s HVAC Refrigerants course which covers the proper flow of both refrigerants and air through an HVAC system. First, we will review the different states of refrigerant through the refrigeration cycle. Next, we will walk you through the impact of having proper airflow and the issues that result from improper airflow. Lastly, we will discuss preventive maintenance considerations to help lower your utility costs. Proper preventive maintenance will reduce wear and tear on your equipment, so you get the most from your investment. R-410A and other refrigerants, R-410A phasedown, and other related topics, will also be covered. [Instructor: HD Supply]
 
HVAC Advanced: Diagnosing Refrigeration Issues
The HVAC advanced class will be for the technician that has been maintaining or servicing HVAC equipment for 3 years or more. In the class the student will learn about the refrigeration cycle in both heating and air conditioning. Static pressure and airflow will be discussed as it applies to proper CFM through the equipment and living space. The student will be taught to understand the relationship between refrigeration effect, superheat and subcooling. Also, they will be taught how to fill out and read the A/C HP Service Sheet provided to help them with diagnosing advanced refrigeration issues. [Instructor: Randy Munson/Chadwell Supply]
 
Motor Operation & Testing
In this class the student will learn the difference between the PSC motor, constant torque and constant volume ECM. We will look at the operation of the motors and where they are used along with how to diagnose electrical issues and how some of the failings can happen.  [Instructor: Randy Munson/Chadwell Supply]

Emergency Action Planning & Crisis Management
All employees, regardless of how much experience they might have, need to be aware of what is required when dealing with various emergencies. Crisis management is vital. OSHA mandates that emergency action plans be taught to all workers as part of a company’s required documented safety training program. Key Elements and Outcomes:
  • Mandatory OSHA EAP requirements
  • Why an EAP is so important to your company’s overall safety program
  • How to assess, evaluate and/or prepare your EAP in advance of a crisis or event

NSPIRE After Year One! 
After 2 years of anxiousness waiting on the arrival of NSPIRE, we now have a full year of NSPIRE being the inspection standard for REAC. Is it what we thought it would be? What are the biggest changes to the inspection protocol with the implementation of NSPIRE? What are the biggest differences between UPCS and NSPIRE?
