Mid-Atlantic AHMA

Scholarships

It’s NAHMA Educational Scholarship Application Season!

If your company is a Mid-Atlantic AHMA member company, then your residents (in Virginia, Maryland, DC, and West Virginia) are eligible for a NAHMA Educational Foundation Scholarship! Please help promote the scholarship program to your residents by downloading and sharing the promotional flyers and the Educational Foundation’s webpage.

NAHMA’s application deadline is May 12, 2025; 10 pm EDT

The application has been revised to make it more user-friendly and to secure more completed submissions. This will be the 18th consecutive year the foundation will make scholarships available to worthy student residents.

Now Seeking Applications for Trade/Technical Schools

While continuing to welcome applications from residents seeking a college education, this year the NAHMA Educational Foundation is outreaching to those student residents working toward a certification or license that will allow them to qualify for a job in any one of a wide variety of trades (e.g., pharmacy tech, cosmetology, commercial driver’s license drivers, medical office specialist, heavy equipment operator, etc.). The foundation wants to ensure that residents seeking this type of training (as well as those seeking a college degree) understand they are eligible to apply for a scholarship as long as their trade/technical school is fully accredited. The foundation anticipates being able to award each recipient with a $3,500 scholarship. The 2025 scholarship application can be accessed by visiting nahma.communityforce.com or by visiting nahma.org and selecting NAHMA Educational Foundation on the About Us tab dropdown list.

George Spreitzer Resident Scholarship

The Mid-Atlantic AHMA established its scholarship “boost award” program in 2017 and in 2018 re-named it for long-time Board President and member, George Spreitzer, who championed the concept of a resident scholarship program for many years.

The NAHMA Foundation awards are typically for $3,500. Recognizing the ever-increasing cost of higher education, it is our hope that our “boost” awards will both encourage more of our residents to apply for a NAHMA Educational Foundation scholarship while also providing a more substantial award to a few lucky and worthy MA-AHMA member property residents. No additional application is required to be eligible for a George Spreitzer Scholarship.
