Training

About MA-AHMA Training Events: With the health, well-being and safety of our members paramount in our minds, after careful consideration we made the difficult decision to cancel all scheduled in-person events through early April—this includes our events on March 17, 19, 25 and 26. Given the quickly evolving situation, we will re-evaluate at the end of March and will announce at that time any further cancellations and our strategy moving forward.  As we all take a couple of weeks to follow the social distancing practices recommended by the CDC, we are actively exploring our options to present the currently--and any future--cancelled classes in a distance-learning/video-conferencing format. Once a distance-learning option is developed, we will contact all registrants with details and will post it here as well. Together we will get through this difficult time and your MA-AHMA will be with you every step of the way to help you stay informed.

Handling Recertifications in a Changing Environment - 1.5 Hour Webinar (Mary Ross)

March 24 and March 26, 1:00p.m. - 2:30p.m.

RBD has been fielding an increasing number of calls from you, our customers, asking how to handle Annual Recertification tasks and an increasing number of requests for Interim Recertification. There is a lot to think about.  We really can’t wait to complete certifications when residents’ income has been reduced and/or expenses (child care) have increased.  It’s important to complete the necessary paperwork quickly to determine new Tenant Rent and Subsidy Payments.  But there are new challenges that we have never had to address before.

Concerns about face-to-face contact, limited ability to contact verification sources and increasing numbers of requests for a review of income are new challenges that property managers are struggling to address.  There are many alternatives to owner/agents including, but not limited to:

  • Conducting interviews via telephone or teleconferencing options
  • Electronic delivery/receipt of documents
  • Sending certifications using Extenuating Circumstances Codes and obtaining tenant signatures later
For full details about this online training option and/or to register, please go to https://www.rbdnow.com/online-training/recert
